Whether you want to do some Irish dancing, learn about it, book some dancers to perform or lead a workshop at your next event, or even if you find yourself here by accident ... a hundred thousand welcomes to the JID dance floor!

Jackson Irish Dancers was organized in 1998 by a group of friends who had stumbled across Irish dancing several years earlier and quickly found ourselves addicted. We’re now a membership-based organization that includes dozens of folks – kids as young as 6 and adults as old as … well, none of our business, really, but let’s just say it’s a diverse group! We’re from all sorts of backgrounds, including many who had never done any dancing to speak of until discovering Irish dance, but also including a few who grew up doing competitive Irish dancing and one who’s a professional dancer. All of us do this for the craic – in Irish, the good fun of it all. We enjoy all sorts of Irish dancing – the up-on-your-toes Riverdance-style solo dancing, the low-to-the-ground casual battering style of set dancing and seán nós (old-style) dancing, and the formal elegance of competition-style céilí dancing. We’re lucky to have a great local community of musicians and venues in the Jackson area where we can get on the dance floor. JID offers classes and workshops as well as casual get-togethers to learn some dancing; you can also book our group to dance or teach at your festival, school, church or club; and you can catch our performance group onstage across the region.
